Why should I get a concealed weapons permit?

Many people ask, “Why should I get a concealed weapons permit?” You should get your concealed weapons permit so that you can defend yourself and your loved ones from the numerous “bad guys” out there in the world. Most deadly-force encounters are over within less than 1 minute, from beginning to end. The typical response time for law enforcement is at least 4 minutes.

This means that even if you had the 911 dispatcher on the phone when the encounter starts, the police would probably not be on the scene before the encounter was over.

Some also believe that the only people that get a concealed weapons permit are those that are “gun nuts” or “wanna-be cops.”

This is ridiculously far from the truth. The people that get their concealed weapons permit are regular people that want to be able to take responsibility for their own safety and security. They are doctors, lawyers, factory workers, bankers, security guards, computer programmers, hairdressers, accountants, carpenters, retirees, housewives, etc.

Gun ownership is a serious responsibility and the use of deadly force is a very serious matter and so is protecting your family.

Even if you do not want to get your concealed weapons permit, you should still get training in the safe handling of firearms and the laws of self-defense.
